Stones
Interpretation
Context 615 corresponds to a layer of stones, found beneath the topsoil (c600). It has an irregular shape, measuring 1.20 m in length (S-N) and 0.80 m in width (E-W). The layer primarily contains cobbles (7-10 cm in size), some of which are fragmented, along with ground stones, possibly knapped stones, and some pottery sherds, animal bones and shells. No clear outline or pit has been identified. The inflitration soil between the stones is the same as the above context c611. This context may be linked to the manufacturing of stone tools (rubbish area?). However, a detailed analysis of the retrieved stone objects will further refine the interpretation of this context.
[original notes from the recording Deposit sheet : "Lots of round stones, which is easy to hand, the soil is same as C620. It's could be a stone tools factory. cause there were some chipped stone, flints, scraps and stone raw materials which are associated with in-directly making process. The round stone may be used as hammer and after using these stones they just throw at the same area. For understanding whether is a cut or not.we cut the area from middle which to make it align to the sontage of C604."]
