Interpretation
The context ran along the west section of the trench, where there had been some damage in the TS2024 season due to the excavator going too low. It is possible that the CBM and compacted sandy-clay, a lot of which is ghe same as the materials of c907 (the wall structure), indicates that c953 is damaged wall material, either from modern excavation or contemporus events. The area was badly damaged by animal burrows and did not have a clear boundary with c945 which was to the north of context c953 but still aong the western edge of the trench. Both contexts had clear boundaries when c907 finished. Underneath c953 there is a flat, compacted surface, possibly a continuation of c912 as they are at the same level (floor surface?).
