Interpretation
Context 636 corresponds to an occupation layer located beneath c605 and above c642, revealed in the sondage excavated to the northside of wall c601. The extends to the base of c601, where it appears to pass beneath it (information to be confirmed). Its composition is very similar to that of c605, but with fewer limestone inclusions and a darker greyish-brown colour.
A small number of artefacts were retrieved from the excavated portion, including pottery sherds, a ground stone, chipped stones, a shell object, fragments of clay building material, and shells.
[Original notes taken from the context sheet record : C636 is below C605 which is quite similar to C605 but include less of limestone, and the color of soil become darker. There is also few of finds in this layer. Excavate from south to north, try to find the northern limit and botto of C601. At the southern area , it was C641 which is part of collapse of the C601 (wall). After excavated about 15-20cm deep, at the southwest corner come up a round area with brown soil which seems like a pit set context 639 (with cut C640), and at the north limit come up an east-west area, with some pottery, seem like another pit, set C643 (with cut C645). The other atea the soil become light and with some white inclusion, it could be part of natural soil, which set C642 to deep excavation.]
