Fill of a pit
Certainty of interpretation
Interpretation
Context 631 corresponds to the fill of a pit, which cut layer c625 and extending through contexts 630 and 631. It is sealed by the layer c616. The fill consists of a friable yellow whitish sandy silt. By the end of the 2023 excavation season, only 10 to 15 cm of the deposit had been excavated, yielding a small quantity of finds : potery sherd, chipped stones, clay building material and shell.
[Original notes from the context sheet : The ouside boundary of the c631 at northeast corner was burn hardly, nut at other side didn't see the same situation. The round area is possible to be astructure buld before burning activity cause the ash layer didn't disturb c631. It is also possible to be a cut which happened after c630, so it disturbs c630, but the top boundary didn't reach c616. The soil is similar to natural soil which is white and friable. And the section of c631 is vertical. At the end of 2023 season, we only excavate 10-15 cm of c631 and outside area to see its section.]
