Interpretation
Context 628 was initially interpreted as a posthole, as were the nearby contexts 625 and 627. However, after excavating the entire sondage, it became clear that these three contexts, slightly disturbed by animal burrows, form part of the same stratigraphic unite.
For description and interpretation, see Context 625.
[Original notes from the context sheet : C628 is posthole at the north east corner of the sondage, which is supposed to be a round wood stick to strengthen the wall (c601) (18/07/23). After excavated, it is a layer with lots of charcoal, the colour of the soil is gray and ashy, same as c625, and connect with c625-627, at the bottome of layer, it came up lot of charcoal, and the soil become more brownish.]
