Interpretation

Context c605 corresponds to a layer identified abutting structure c601, partially covering its northern side and extending over 8 meters to the north of the trench. It consists of a sandy silt soil with frequent limestone inclusions, and very similar in composition to layers c604 and c620, which were recorded on the southern side of wall c601. In proximity to the wall, particularly in the western half of the trench, the deposit is mixed with clay and mud derived from the gradual degradation of the wall itself. This localised variation has been recorded separately as context c641.

The layer, excavated on 6 m², yielded a limited but varied assemblage of finds,  including chipped stones, flint, ground stones, fragments of claybuilding material, faunal remains, and a few pottery sherds, some of which may date to the Late Neolithic I and II.

Based on field observations, context 605 is interpreted as a naturally accumulated sedimentary layer. It also constitutes the stratgraphic horizon into which two burials (F1 and F2), located further north in the trench, were later cut.
