northern wall made of clay and mud

Interpretation
Context 601 corresponds to a large clay and mud bank or degraded wall, roughly oriented west-east. The surface has been truncated by agricultural activity. After cleaning the surface, the sides of the structure were investigated through sondages opened against the western berm of the trench.
The structure measures 2,80 m in width and is preserved to a height of 0.70 m. It appears to be constructed from clay and mud. The southern side is stepped in its upper part, likely due to erosion and natural degradation, and becomes vertical in the better-preserved lower part. The same profile is observed on the northern side (see context 641). While uncovering the wall, a few pottery sherds and animal bones have been collected.
On the southern side, the wall seems to be founded on a thick ashy layer (contexts 625), and possibly part of the infrastructure of the wall.
Based on the excavation data from other sectors and the surveys conducted on the Toumba hill, this wall may constitute the northern limit of the core of the settlement. While further research is needed, especially regarding chronology, it clearly separates the inside from the outside, a distinction also marked by the presence of two burials found further in the north.
