Interpretation

Context 626 corresponds to a large, unworked, rounded stone (L. 0.44 m, W. 0.20 m, D. 0.10 m) with a flat side, found in the middle of the grave, in the pelvic area of the skeleton (c623), oriented north–south and positioned near the edge of the grave. Based on its dimensions, location, and orientation, this stone appears not only to be part of the grave cover, but may also represent a capping or blocking stone that fell into the interior of the burial pit. It is worth noting that deposit c617 was found directly above this stone.

The presence of this stone supports the hypothesis of a burial deposited in an empty space and sealed with a light cover, possibly beneath a small stone cairn.
