Interpretation

Context 632 corresponds to the cut of a circular pit identified in the sondage south of wall 601. This cut truncates layer c625 and extends into the underlying deposits, c630 and c638. The pit measures approximately 1 meter in diameter, with sides that appear to be vertical. However, by the end of the 2023 excavation season, only 15 cm of the northern half of the structure had been excavated. The pit is filled with a homogeneous upper deposit, recorded as context 631. 

Initially c632 was used for the cut of a possible posthole filled by the deposit c625. However, following a reassessment of the feature as an ashy layer rather than a posthole, c632 has since been redefined to refer to the cut of the circular pit described above.
