Description

Mud brick wall (W section)

Interpretation

Mud brick wall exposed during excavation (post season). The wall seems to be composed of a backed clay foundation with an ash/charcoal layer on top. This would have likly been to flatten the surface/bake the clay. This is followed by a coursed mud brick wall, reamins of which can be found scattered across the N extent of the trench.
